The Role
The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for the analysis and reporting of our North American operation working directly with our accounting managers and Controller to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to local stakeholders and global teams. Monthly account reconciliation, preparing accurate journal entries, and variance analysis functions will be your main focus to ensure that the books and records of the firm are accurate and reporting is completed on a timely basis.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ensure the integrity of financial information by preparing monthly/quarterly detailed reviews of balance sheet accounts
Support a successful month end close by ensuring required journal entries are properly calculated and loaded in the system
Perform analytical analysis to respond to requests by various stakeholders on an ad hoc basis
Maintenance and monitoring of the chart of accounts
Process and record high-level vouchers and journals in the accounting system
Participate in the year-end audit by collecting and preparing information for audit testing responses
Lead and/or participate in special projects to improve processes or develop new ones across finance functions
Assist staff accountant with bank reconciliations as needed and investigate discrepancies
Review and revise weekly report on unallocated cash for postings; assist with re-classes
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
Willingness to take initiative to problem solve and utilize critical thinking skills (think outside the box)
Advanced Excel skills are a must (ex. complex formulas, data analysis, pivot tables, etc.)
Knowledge of 3E and/or Enterprise software helpful, but not required
Self-directed individual that knows what needs to be done and operates with a sense of urgency, focus and discipline
Proven ability to exercise good judgment, be highly organized, show initiative and be proactive
Excellent written and oral communication skills with extreme comfort in interacting with internal and external stakeholders; ability to work at all levels within the organization with confidence and establish credibility
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks, with excellent time management skills to complete projects in a timely fashion
Must be career oriented and have strong work ethic
Must be a team player and have interpersonal skills
Above all, possess the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
Prior law firm experience is helpful, but not required
