Job Summary
Global Markets Portfolio Solutions team provide capacity to Broker Facility/ Coverholder/ Consortia across a broad range of product lines on a diversified follow basis.
The role is responsible for underwriting and managing the Portfolio Solutions accounts and is expected to actively participate in the strategic development and delivery of a technically profitable portfolio whilst building and enhancing commercial relationships with brokers and coverholders.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To attract new business from existing and new partners that fits within the Portfolio Solutions underwriting appetite criteria.
Underwrite all classes of business within the Portfolio Solutions team to achieve targets set out in the business plan.
Discuss new opportunities, deal pipeline and ideas with the wider underwriting team and analytical team on a frequent basis ensuring aligned underwriting strategy and knowledge sharing.
Review submissions, providing feedback and determine which transactions to develop further via additional analysis, peer discussion, engagement with brokers and portfolio management review.
Monitor and analyse the performance of the in-force business, through relevant statistics, noting any deviations from business plan and producing within required timetables action plans to achieve targeted results.
Work collaboratively with colleagues in other lines of business to deliver profitable portfolio business.
Liaison with internal clients (delegated governance, finance, actuarial pricing and reserving and claims) as necessary
Use formal reporting mechanisms to promptly notify relevant parties of any perceived new risks or failures of existing control measures.
Assist in business reporting and business planning activities
Be actively engaged with the Portfolio, digital and fast-follow landscape, interacting via informal catch ups, meetings, presentations, webinars and conferences. Analyse trends in these markets and play a central role in developing AXIS market strategies and capabilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Highly motivated self-starter who can quickly assess marketplace opportunities, analyse and assess those opportunities
University degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant (re)insurance underwriting experience
Complete understanding of Portfolio structures and the needs they serve to the London market
Critical thinker with an ability to digest and summarize large quantities of complex information for the benefit of a wider audience.
Confident in forming independent opinions, able to make recommendations on risk and underwriting strategy and working constructively in a team environment.
Strong numeracy and communication skills, with an ability to adapt style to fit the audience, purpose and level of priority.
Experienced negotiator with an ability to take a clear stance on commercial, insurance policy wording and risk positions in a constructive manner
