Sr. Staff Accountant

Work Environment

Onsite (San Diego, CA)

Salary Range

$70,000-$80,000 annually

Essential Functions:

Answering any questions from agents or underwriting regarding billing, both through email and by phone.
Analysis and payment processing for carrier payments, inspection fees, commissions, and legal fees.
Entering daily cash payments into the agency management system, preparing bank deposits and initiating bank transfers
Monitoring past due receivables and performing necessary follow-up.
Assisting with preparation for various carrier audits, as well as the annual financial audit.
Assisting with month-end closing, including preparation of trial balances and other premium / revenue reporting.
Other projects and duties as required.

Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
3+ years of experience in an accounting department or with an insurance agency/company.
Ability and willingness to learn new software / systems
Detail oriented
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (experience with lookups and pivot tables a must)
Previous experience with insurance administration systems (particularly IMS) desirable
Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies
